The Social Life of Simulacra is here, offering up the perfect experience of luxurious lifestyle through carefully-curated, artist-crafted, and emotion-based symbols of contemporary digital life, presented as real-world artifacts that you can buy now to feel the way you’ve always dreamed of. On view is a series of pictures of pictograms centered on familiar emoji faces and gestures, once relegated to conveying thoughts and feelings via the Internet and social media, now on the wall. To accompany this brand new work, we are also proud to offer nostalgic products from the hyperreal. Imagine: helium filled mylar balloons, that need no inflating, and a selection of products from your childhood grocer’s aisle, with no preservatives and an indefinite shelf live.

Unlike other exhibitions, each work in Social Life offers a personalized, new chain of simulation starting with digital representations created from a text string, like U+1F600 😄.  Through our special process, traversing the space from 2D to 3D to newD, in a presentation that echos dimensionality and simulates object hood, unicode (numbers and letters) becomes graphics (emoji) becomes objects (balloons) becomes pictures (photographs) becomes sculptures (framed boxes), allowing us to offer you your favorite faces and emotions for your own institution or home.
