artifacts that you can buy now to feel the way you’ve always dreamed of. On view is a series of pictures of pictograms centered on familiar emoji faces and gestures, once relegated to conveying thoughts and feelings via the Internet and social media, now on the wall. To accompany this brand new work, we are also proud to offer nostalgic products from the hyperreal. Imagine: helium filled mylar balloons, that need no inflating, and a selection of products from your childhood grocer’s aisle, with no preservatives and an indefinite shelf live.
Unlike other exhibitions, each work in Social Life offers a personalized, new chain of simulation starting with digital representations created from a text string, like U+1F600 😄. Through our special process, traversing the space from 2D to 3D to newD, in a presentation that echos dimensionality and simulates object hood, unicode (numbers and letters) becomes graphics (emoji) becomes objects (balloons) becomes pictures (photographs) becomes sculptures (framed boxes), allowing us to offer you your favorite faces and emotions for your own institution or home.
Blurring the lines between signifier and signified, and sign and object, these sculptural artworks — like the graphic language (emoji) and the campy objects (balloons based on emoji) they embody — “accentuate empathy” and turn the quotidian into something more personal (pg. 8),” and inherently social. “As the body language of online speech, emoji clarify tone and intent, and they do so economically and efficiently” providing the framework for a contemporary social life that has already informed all of us via our computers, smartphones, and tablets.
So why wait? This is a post-super flat inflection point, no longer tethered to Japan, underscoring the reciprocal influence of East on West in the 21st century, following the back and over the previous generations. The intersectionality of economies and societies brings to Salon 3N the hyperreality like you’ve never experienced it before, simulating not only objects but also the social and emotional backbone of our existences, at prices starting at $397.
Your satisfaction is already guaranteed!
